Happy New Year 2011 !

I hope your Christmas and New Year's celebration were superb ! and that you remembered the REAL reason for the Season. I sure did ! My Season was quiet ! but very enjoyable as I and my three sons spent time together whenever they had time to spare. As young people they are I watched hopeful and prayed for their safety while up and about town and parties.
We've heard said in the news about the flu season, the flu season that comes along with the cold weather. Well this holiday season, it was my season as for many of you to spend it feeling awful with flu, the flu I had it seems was the real bad kind, and as the days of celebration wore on so did this flu, I refuse to call it my flu; as I want nothing to do with flu. But this bad flu tested in a great way how my inmune system endured.  This flu just hang on and on, with all the flu symptoms at full blast until today when finally I can inhale and exhale freely.

In between my rest, coughing and fever, I read, searched and studied information on the internet, I reviewed a number of different products, these products are from within categories I take interest on. Categories such as health and fitness, real estate investing, computer software and a few others. After spending so much time reading pages and pages of information on products, I decided to share some of my products reviews with you today for which I created easy to read and easy to follow simple websites. The moment is fast approaching as we watch the clock ticking witnessing the last hours of 2010. Incredible another year has gone by as it was not long ago we bid the previous one goodbye ! Now once again we prepare for that moment of farewell ........to 2010.
Looking back we should stop and give thanks for having survived a challenging year, for some of us the year passed with little changed, kept our jobs, paid our bills, and with a sigh of relief we come to the end of December 2010. Perhaps we saw a love one become engaged or get married, a son or daughter, a niece or a nephew, or just a good friend graduate from school, perhaps the year brought us the loss of a love one -as I did- making that one experience a year always to remember. Each day of each month is the moment to live it as best we can and as our expectations wear on through each day let's embrace the present moment and make it the gem in the treasure we'll go back to time after time for the now, for the moment and for the memories.
Let's look to the New Year fondly remembering the recent past, what will it be for you? Will you smile remembering meeting that special someone, will you feel a sense of pride remembering your mortgage got paid off, or your child achieving the honor roll, will it be apprehension as you are still out of a job, or face possible lay off, or perhaps you realize the year went well after all. What was it like for me? the year went well after all, well; considering what happened to those in Haiti with the earthquake, the long rainy season in so much of the world that left many homeless and in pain, yes the year went well after all considering I do have a job, my sons and I are in good health, our home is still standing, and generally speaking our Caribbean weather has been relatively okay. Yes the year went well after all.
Let's share our hope that in the New Year we'll be wiser, better and stronger to receive each day with optimism, with the right attitude, towards ourselves and towards others in all areas of our lives. I wish you all a New Year filled with hope, love and faith and a life lived to the fullest.

This I say specially in memory of my brother-in-law Fred Sprickman of Buffalo NY who lived a life to the fullest to that moment when he left earth but went on to live an even fuller life.

Lighter Workouts are Better


We know how it is. The thought of sweating through a workout can turn couch gravity into an absolutely irresistible force.

But here's some good news for slackers: Easy, breezy, light exercise may do more for your energy levels than the hard stuff. So go ahead, put your workout on cruise control.

Research shows that a program of low intensity exercise training -- like light cycling on a stationary bike for 30 minutes three times a week -- can reduce tired-all-the-time feelings by as much as 65%. And it only takes 6 weeks of light workouts to feel pepped up. Moderate-intensity exercise programs boost energy levels, too, but not as much. Know what the easiest workout in the world is? Walking.

One possible explanation for the better energy boost from lighter workouts: More vigorous workouts shape you up but also tire you out. So if you're just trying to get off the couch for a change, start slow. Go at whatever pace is comfortable for you -- in a few weeks, you'll feel your tiredness fade. Then you can think about kicking things up a notch.

What's The Least You Can Do?

Exactly how little can you do and still get fit? A new study suggests 1.7 might be the magic number.

Middle-aged men and women at risk for heart disease who walk at a moderate pace for just 1.7 miles a day improve several important measures of their aerobic fitness.

More Is More
Ok, we admit it. The data show that jogging at full speed for nearly 3 miles a day reaps the greatest cardiovascular benefits. But if jogging shorts and running shoes aren't your style -- or you're just feeling kinda tired today -- at least get yourself out there for 1.7 miles. It's still enough to keep you on the road to better fitness.

More Ways to Do Less
Going slower doesn't always mean that you'll lose the fitness race. Here are some other ways to keep yourself in the game when you feel like throwing in the towel:

  • Slow it down. You don't have to keep up with that marathon runner. Lower-intensity exercise can actually help you lose more weight than higher-intensity exercise.
  • Take a breather. Right in the middle of your workout. A 20-minute break between two 30-minute sessions has been proven to help you burn more fat and calories.
  • Break it up. Can't pull together 30 minutes of exercise? Grab 10 minutes in the morning, 10 minutes at lunch, and 10 minutes after dinner. Done.
